The Game Changers Executive Committee consists of 23 young leaders passionate about sport and its ability to improve the future of Toronto’s youths. Our members have come together from diverse industries and backgrounds; each bringing their own unique skills and experiences to the table.
The Executive Committee covers five areas: events, sponsorship, marketing and communications, general membership and treasury. We love collaborating and dreaming up bigger and better ways to achieve our fundraising goals, and channel our efforts toward making a positive and lasting impact on our community.
MICHAEL MANDARELLO, Co-Chair
Michael is currently Corporate Counsel at Walmart Canada Corp and has been practicing corporate law since being called to the bar in Ontario in 2011. Michael worked as legal counsel for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan Games and has previously chaired the Right To Play Champions Network of Young Professionals (CNYP). Michael believes in the power of sport to shape lives and develop future leaders, and is excited to work with MLSE Foundation to provide sport infrastructure and resources to Toronto’s youth community.
DR. NICOLE FOLLAND, Co-Chair
Dr. Nicole Folland is the CEO and Managing Director of Athlete Excellence Inc., a mental performance coaching service for young, aspiring, and professional athletes. Nicole has competed internationally as both a dancer and an equestrian and has represented Team Canada at the World Dance Championships in Riesa, Germany. Her passion for sport and understanding the connection between the mind and body of high-performing athletes led her to complete a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour.
NEIL MCCABE, VP Treasury
Neil is an Assistant Portfolio Manager with Fiera Capital, one of Canada’s largest asset management companies, specializing in high yield and corporate hybrid securities. He joined Fiera in 2013, after having spent three years abroad; first completing a Master of Business Administration degree at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain, then working on Nomura International’s Credit Research desk in London, England. He is a firm believer in the power of sport and its ability to build leadership and teamwork skills, imbue self-confidence and unite communities, providing an opportunity for those less fortunate to thrive.
AUSTIN BANASCO, VP Championship Gala
Austin Banasco is Vice President at Boutique Inc.., an experiential marketing agency operating across Canada. Previously, he has held various marketing and sales positions at tier one CPG companies including L’Oreal and Revlon. He holds a BBA (Honours) from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
EDGAR VERGARA, VP General Membership & Speaker Series
Edgar has spent his career in the finance industry and is currently a Vice President in the High Yield Capital Markets group at RBC Capital Markets, focused on debt advisory, structuring and origination. Prior to RBC Capital Markets, Edgar worked as a Portfolio Manager at Stanton Asset Management focused on high yield credit. Originally from Montreal, Edgar is a die-hard Toronto Raptors fan and is committed to the success of MLSE Foundation. He is particularly interested in helping kids use sports to help them further their education.
JESSICA CHOW, VP External Communications
Jessica is a management consultant with a passion for supporting the local community. She is currently the Manager of Strategy at GALE Partners, a business agency helping brands win by reimagining the future. Before GALE, she worked at Jackman Reinvents focusing on customer experiences of leading North American retailers. Jessica received her HBA from Ivey Business School at Western University.
SCOTT MASON, VP Sponsorship
Scott is a real estate and infrastructure investment banker at Brookfield Financial. In addition to his role in Game Changers he is part of the advisory committee for the development of a community health centre in downtown Toronto. Scott received a BCom from the University of Alberta, and a Masters from the University of Southern California. Scott is a strong believer in empowering youth through sports and recreation.
HARRY SALE, VP Innovation
Harry has been at RBC Dominion Securities since 2013, and joined the Game Changers Executive Committee in 2016. He currently sits on the Charitable Giving committee at his RBC Branch and has been involved in a number of philanthropic endeavours both at RBC and personally. He is an avid sports fan, and focuses on playing golf, rowing, bike riding, hockey, and motor racing. Harry’s belief that the impact sports has on people of all-ages is powerful, and is committed to support the initiatives put forward by the MLSE Foundation and MLSE LaunchPad.
CRAIG SCOTT, Director - Ticket Sales
Craig has spent his entire career in the golf industry and is currently the National Account Manager at Acushnet Golf Canada. Prior to joining Acushnet Golf in 2016, he had a variety of roles in business development and territory management with Callaway Golf Canada. Craig achieved a BBA from Acadia University and served as the VP of Events and Activities on the Business Society. His passion for sports and community involvement has led him to the MLSE Foundation where he looks to #ChangeTheGame for the youth in our city through organized sports.
LISA MCLAUGHLIN, Director - Ticket Sales
Lisa McLaughlin has been at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment since 2011 and is currently a Manager of Membership in the Ticket Sales and Service Department. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University in 2011 while captaining and coaching their Women’s Field Lacrosse team. Having been active in sports throughout her life, Lisa is passionate about giving back and sharing her love of sport with youth in the community.
KRISTINE MACKAY, Director - Ticket Sales
Kristine is Business Development Manager and Advisor at The MacKay Group Wealth Management at RBC Dominion Securities. Kristine has a diverse career and personal background having worked in various industries such as retail, working for a start-up as well as financial services. She has been with RBC for 5 years, having spent her career in various divisions, including Capital Markets and International Wealth Management in London, UK. She received an HBA from McMaster University and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business with an exchange component at ESSEC Business School in Paris, France. Kristine is an extremely active individual, having completed several half marathons and spring triathlons for charity; Kristine also enjoys skiing, sailing, scuba diving and traveling in her spare time.
STEPHANIE PENNAL, Director - Marketing and Communications
Steven Stephanie is a second year MBA student at UofT specializing in consulting and business design. Prior to her MBA, and in her MBA internship, she worked at consultancies and organizations in the Toronto area in the functions of corporate strategy, business design, marketing strategy, and communications. Her passion for sport and paying it forward has brought her to the Game Changers organization and she is excited to lend her skills and expertise. Her hope is that together we can #ChangeTheGame by empowering the next generation of leaders in the Toronto community through sport.
BRANDON MEIER, Director - Internal Communications
As a Senior Associate with BDO Transaction Advisory Services, Brandon’s focus is assisting middle market companies and financial sponsors with divestitures, acquisitions, and M&A strategy development. Brandon began his career in audit and tax at EY and previously gained experience through internships in mid-market M&A, equity capital markets, and internal corporate finance at a private equity backed consumer packaged goods manufacturer. Brandon holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a CFA Charterholder. An active sports participant growing up, Brandon believes firmly in sport for development initiatives.
SHANE MARTINS, Director - Marketing and Communications
Born and raised in the GTA, Shane attended Wilfrid Laurier University for Undergrad studies, as well as Sheridan College for a PostGrad in Corporate Communications. His professional background is diverse, having spent time in accounting before moving over to marketing and media roles more recently. Currently, Shane is an Analyst at Sportsnet, which has allowed him to marry his interests in data/analytics, as well as media and of course sports. On a personal level, Shane is a huge sports fan (everything Toronto of course) both watching and playing. He has volunteered within the minor hockey community in the GTA for a number of years, and strongly believes in the power of sport to positively impact youth lives.
NICOLA D'SOUZA, Director - Marketing and Communications
Nicola D'Souza is currently a Senior Strategic Communications Advisor for the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. She has worked in communications and cause marketing for the last 10 years. She is a proud Western University grad with a Public Relations Post-Graduate Certificate from Humber College and a Digital Marketing Management Certificate from the University of Toronto. An avid Toronto sports fan, she truly believes in the power sport has in bringing communities together. MLSE Foundation is an organization close to her heart because it gives kids facing barriers opportunities they might never have experienced.

Derek is currently a Senior Auditor working in internal audit at CIBC Mellon. Derek holds A CPA, CA designation and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting from Carleton University in 2014. Derek has participated in sports from an early age including hockey, baseball and basketball. He has continued to remain actively involved in sports and is a strong believer in the power of sport having a lasting influence on youth.
ANDREW DIMOCK, Director - Sponsorship
Andrew Dimock focuses on client relationship management and business development for Burgundy Asset Management’s U.S. Institutional client base. Before joining Burgundy, Andrew worked for BMW M GmbH in Munich, Germany, and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University in 2007. For four years at university, he volunteered weekly one-on-one with an autistic child in a swim and gym program (Sensory Motor Instructional Leadership Experience - S.M.I.L.E.). Varoujan is a Partner in Blaney McMurtry LLP's commercial litigation department, where he handles complex business disputes and attends court regularly. Max Muñoz is an Associate in the advocacy department of Gowling WLG’s Toronto Office. Max’s practice covers a broad range of litigation areas, but is mainly focused on class actions, acting primarily for defendants in product liability, competition and securities-related matters. For the past two years Dan has held the position of Director of Corporate Relations with the Canadian Association of Business Students, establishing and facilitating all partnerships for JDC Central, a national business case competition for undergraduate business students. Dan is a former competitive athlete in a number of sports including hockey and golf. Nick is currently an Associate supporting the Institutional Client Teams at Burgundy Asset Management. He graduated with an Honours Economics and Financial Management degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2014. Leala is a passionate and powerful communicator. Christine is a Team Lead at Cancer Care Ontario, leading the design and execution of Ontario's colorectal cancer screening program, ColonCancerCheck. Adam has worked in Debt Capital Markets at RBC on the Investment Grade Energy and Utility origination team since 2010 after graduating from Wilfrid Laurier with a BBA degree. Born and raised in the GTA, he is a sports fanatic and bleeds blue cheering on the Leafs and Jays. With a life-long passion for hockey and the unfortunate realization that Tristan would never make it as an NHL player, I set my sights on what I deemed the next best thing; becoming an NHL General Manager. After reaching out to all of the GMs in the NHL, attending the NHL Draft in Buffalo, and sending over 1000 letters to each team's hockey operations department, Tristan took the advice of Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland and set the wheels in motion to achieve my MBA. Daniel is currently a Consultant at Scotiabank Arena and is a graduate of Ryerson University BA in 2016. Emma recently moved to Toronto and is currently working in Fundraising and Development. Prior to this, she worked in Operational Development for an international language school, and a UK-based charity, the Youth Sport Trust. She is passionate about how sport can help transform the lives of young people, and looking forward to working with the MLSE Foundation to support youth development in Toronto.
