The Game Changers Executive Committee consists of 23 young leaders passionate about sport and its ability to improve the future of Toronto’s youths. Our members have come together from diverse industries and backgrounds; each bringing their own unique skills and experiences to the table.
The Executive Committee covers five areas: events, sponsorship, marketing and communications, general membership and treasury. We love collaborating and dreaming up bigger and better ways to achieve our fundraising goals, and channel our efforts toward making a positive and lasting impact on our community.
MICHAEL MANDARELLO, Chair
Michael is currently Corporate Counsel at Walmart Canada Corp and has been practicing corporate law since being called to the bar in Ontario in 2011. Michael worked as legal counsel for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan Games and has previously chaired the Right To Play Champions Network of Young Professionals (CNYP). Michael believes in the power of sport to shape lives and develop future leaders, and is excited to work with MLSE Foundation to provide sport infrastructure and resources to Toronto’s youth community.
DR. NICOLE FOLLAND, Vice Chair
Dr. Nicole Folland is the CEO and Managing Director of Athlete Excellence Inc., a mental performance coaching service for young, aspiring, and professional athletes. Nicole has competed internationally as both a dancer and an equestrian and has represented Team Canada at the World Dance Championships in Riesa, Germany. Her passion for sport and understanding the connection between the mind and body of high-performing athletes led her to complete a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour.
NEIL MCCABE, Treasurer
Neil is an Assistant Portfolio Manager with Fiera Capital, one of Canada’s largest asset management companies, specializing in high yield and corporate hybrid securities. He joined Fiera in 2013, after having spent three years abroad; first completing a Master of Business Administration degree at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain, then working on Nomura International’s Credit Research desk in London, England. He is a firm believer in the power of sport and its ability to build leadership and teamwork skills, imbue self-confidence and unite communities, providing an opportunity for those less fortunate to thrive.
AUSTIN BANASCO, VP Events
Austin Banasco is Vice President at Boutique Inc.., an experiential marketing agency operating across Canada. Previously, he has held various marketing and sales positions at tier one CPG companies including L’Oreal and Revlon. He holds a BBA (Honours) from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
EDGAR VERGARA, VP Member Network
Edgar has spent his career in the finance industry and is currently a Vice President in the High Yield Capital Markets group at RBC Capital Markets, focused on debt advisory, structuring and origination. Prior to RBC Capital Markets, Edgar worked as a Portfolio Manager at Stanton Asset Management focused on high yield credit. Originally from Montreal, Edgar is a die-hard Toronto Raptors fan and is committed to the success of MLSE Foundation. He is particularly interested in helping kids use sports to help them further their education.
JESSICA CHOW, VP Marketing and Communications
Jessica is a management consultant with a passion for supporting the local community. She is currently the Manager of Strategy at GALE Partners, a business agency helping brands win by reimagining the future. Before GALE, she worked at Jackman Reinvents focusing on customer experiences of leading North American retailers. Jessica received her HBA from Ivey Business School at Western University.
ROBERTO ANDREACCHI, VP Fundraising and Sponsorship
Rob is a business lawyer and was one of the co-founders of Toronto Plays in 2012. Rob is an active volunteer and an engaged community member. He is the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Volunteer Toronto, Canada's largest volunteer centre and a trusted resource for volunteers and non-profit organizations. Rob is passionate about the City of Toronto, one of the most dynamic, inspiring and energetic places on earth.
SCOTT MASON, Director - Events
Scott is a real estate and infrastructure investment banker at Brookfield Financial. In addition to his role in Game Changers he is part of the advisory committee for the development of a community health centre in downtown Toronto. Scott received a BCom from the University of Alberta, and a Masters from the University of Southern California. Scott is a strong believer in empowering youth through sports and recreation.
CRAIG SCOTT, Director - Events
Craig has spent his entire career in the golf industry and is currently the National Account Manager at Acushnet Golf Canada. Prior to joining Acushnet Golf in 2016, he had a variety of roles in business development and territory management with Callaway Golf Canada. Craig achieved a BBA from Acadia University and served as the VP of Events and Activities on the Business Society. His passion for sports and community involvement has led him to the MLSE Foundation where he looks to #ChangeTheGame for the youth in our city through organized sports.
ANDREW STURGESS, Director - Member Network
Andrew Sturgess is currently a Senior Investment Consultant with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport at the Ontario Government. He focuses on bridging economic development and immigration to secure foreign direct investment in Ontario. Andrew has been involved with sport his whole life and strongly believes in the positive impact it has on youth long after they have finished participating.
JONATHAN TONG, Director - Member Network
Jonathan is a lawyer at Aird & Berlis LLP who practises in the area of corporate finance, with an emphasis on capital market and securities regulatory matters. He has acted for public and private international and domestic clients in a number of sectors, including mining, biotech and entertainment. While at Osgoode Hall Law School, Jonathan achieved the Dean's Gold Key Award and the Legal & Literary Society Student Honour Award. He is a founder and co-chair of the Young Professionals for SickKids, a not-for-profit philanthropic organization of young professionals supporting The Hospital for Sick Children.
STEVEN RUSSO, Director - Member Network
Steven is currently a Vice President at Difference Capital Financial Inc. He obtained his J.D. and MBA from Queen’s University. Before joining DCF, Steven worked as a summer student and later completed his articles at a corporate law firm in Toronto. Prior to that, he served as a summer law student at the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) where he assisted on player contract negotiations and salary arbitration.
MIKE SORAGNESE, Director - Marketing and Communications
As the Creative Director and Producer for Render Media Inc., Mike Soragnese brings nearly a decade of industry experience working on brands such as Microsoft, Walmart, Tim Hortons, Conair, Cuisinart, Canadian Club, Banff Ice, Sauza, Raymond James, The City of Toronto, and The City of Vaughan. Through the years Mike has also worked on camera as the Host of “The Business Section” on Rogers TV as well as a Correspondent for various live broadcasts such as The Elections, League 1 Ontario, and even the Santa Claus Parade.
MICHELLE YEAP, Director - Marketing and Communications
Michelle is currently Manager of Strategy & Analysis at BMO Capital Markets and has previously held roles in Strategic Planning & Analysis, and Business Initiatives & Analytics as part of CIBC's Rotational Training Program. Prior to joining the Game Changers, she was an Ambassador for the National Ballet of Canada's young professionals' programme. As a former youth soccer coach, she believes in the power of sport to transform lives. Michelle is a CPA, CA and graduated from the University of Waterloo with a master's degree in accounting.
ASHLEY MUNROE, Director - Marketing and Communications
Ashley is an Investment Principal in the Infrastructure and Natural Resources group at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. She received an HBA from Ivey Business School and a degree in Civil Engineering from Western University. Ashley believes in the physical, emotional and social benefits of sports and wants to help ensure all kids get access to these empowering developmental opportunities.
DANIELLE NG-SEE-QUAN, Director - Marketing and Communications
Danielle is currently Managing Editor, Content Marketing at Ceridian, a global human capital management technology company. Before joining Ceridian, she worked as Content Manager and Strategist at customer reinvention company Jackman Reinvents. A former trade magazine writer and editor, Dani uses her journalism background to strategically connect the dots in content creation initiatives She is passionate about being involved in and supporting her local community, particularly through fun and engaging opportunities to empower youth through sports.
ANDREW DIMOCK, Director - Fundraising and Sponsorship
Andrew Dimock focuses on client relationship management and business development for Burgundy Asset Management’s U.S. Institutional client base. Before joining Burgundy, Andrew worked for BMW M GmbH in Munich, Germany, and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University in 2007. For four years at university, he volunteered weekly one-on-one with an autistic child in a swim and gym program (Sensory Motor Instructional Leadership Experience - S.M.I.L.E.). Upon his return to Toronto, he coached in the Leaside Atom Baseball Association. Andrew looks forward to contributing to the MLSE Foundation Game Changers mission of empowering youth through sport.
VAROUJAN ARMAN, Director - Fundraising and Sponsorship
Varoujan is a Partner in Blaney McMurtry LLP's commercial litigation department, where he handles complex business disputes and attends court regularly. Varoujan is also an avid competitive squash player, and is a firm believer in the importance of sports in the lives of youths. He maintains an active DJ and music production career. Varoujan studied political science at York University prior to attending law school at the University of Windsor.
PAUL MACCHIONE, Director - Fundraising and Sponsorship
Paul Macchione is currently Labour and Employment Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP in Toronto. He holds a Canadian law degree from the University of Windsor, an American law degree from the University of Detroit and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Ryerson University. Paul participated in various sports from a young age including soccer, baseball, golf and of course road hockey. Paul believes in the power of sport to motivate, build lasting friendships, promote teamwork, and generally enrich a child’s life.
JESSE TORCHETTI, Director - Fundraising and Sponsorship
Jesse is an Associate at Promontory Financial Group Canada, where he helps financial institutions solve their most complex strategic, regulatory compliance, and risk management issues. He has a history of involvement with philanthropic opportunities, including the 3TO6 Team's Regent Park Gala in support of youth programming at MLSE Foundation's Regent Park Athletic Grounds. Jesse has a B.S., magna cum laude, in Finance and Strategy from Cornell University's Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management.
MAX MUNOZ, Director - Fundraising and Sponsorship
Max Muñoz is an Associate in the advocacy department of Gowling WLG’s Toronto Office. Max’s practice covers a broad range of litigation areas, but is mainly focused on class actions, acting primarily for defendants in product liability, competition and securities-related matters. In his free time, Max volunteers to act as counsel for families requiring legal assistance at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. He is also a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law.
NICK WHITEMAN, Director - Fundraising and Sponsorship
Nick is currently an Associate supporting the Institutional Client Teams at Burgundy Asset Management. He graduated with an Honours Economics and Financial Management degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2014. Nick shares the MLSE Foundation’s vision for changing lives through the spirit and the power of sports. Sports have been a huge influence on shaping his life and he wants to ensure this opportunity is available to future generations.
HARRY SALE, Director - Fundraising and Sponsorship
Harry Sale has been an Associate at RBC Dominion Securities since 2013, and has been a Game Changer since 2016. He currently sits on the Charitable Giving committee at his RBC Branch and has been involved in a number of philanthropic endeavours both at RBC and personally. Harry played hockey and baseball throughout school and still plays recreationally. Harry studied film at Western University, was an award winning documentary film producer at Sheridan College and graduated from York University with a BA in Business. His interests include sports, finance and philanthropy.
ADAM EGBERTS, Director - Fundraising and Sponsorship
Adam has worked in Debt Capital Markets at RBC on the Investment Grade Energy and Utility origination team since 2010 after graduating from Wilfrid Laurier with a BBA degree. Born and raised in the GTA, he is a sports fanatic and bleeds blue cheering on the Leafs and Jays. He has been fortunate to play and be involved in sports his whole life including hockey, baseball, skiing, cycling and golf and is excited for the opportunity to give back and support the community around him. The MLSE foundation presents a unique opportunity to help transform the lives of children through sport, a mission statement he feels passionately about.
